Terrorism Awareness Program
Civilian Observation Patrol Program
A Civilian Observation Patrol is Primarily a crime watch program involving
concerned civilians who act as extended eyes and ears of the Police Department.
The volunteers are trained and coordinated by the precinct. They patrol
their own neighborhoods and report incidents to the precinct.
Block Watchers Program
Civilians volunteers are given training in observation and are assigned
a confidential Block Watchers Number which, they use in reporting crimes
and dangerous crimes and conditions in their immediate neighborhood.
Civilian Observer Ride-Alongs
The Civilian Observation Ride-Along program provides the public with an
opportunity to observe police officers on patrol. Members of the public
ride with officers in an RMP for approximately two (2) hours, witnessing
first hand what a police officer on patrol encounters during a tour of
duty.
